Awake and Single: Where are all the awakened singles?

If you consider yourself among the "awakened", and you're single and dating, you may be asking yourself, "Why can't I find someone who is also awakened?". By this I mean someone who discusses deep topics; someone who sees the lies and corruption in our society; someone who doesn't fall for everything they hear and see on television; someone who knows there is more to life than work or money; someone seeking more than the mundane.

I've been single for six years now. I've been on several dates along the way, but always left the date feeling empty. They had no depth to them. It's always the same thing: a movie, dinner, and television. Really? I mean, where are the conversations about life? Let's talk about what matters to you in life! What drives you to get up in the morning? What are your passions, your fears, your life goals? Instead, it's just the same old mundane stuff. I know I am not alone, and I know it's not just shallow men. "Awakened" men are asking the same questions about women. My friend and I talk about this all the time. We will be out having a drink and we are always aware of our surroundings. We always feel like we are in the twilight zone watching people so clueless of anything around them. They never look up at the stars, or question anything. They live in bubble of they're own slavery.

So, are we destined to conform to being blind after our eyes have been opened? Once you can see it's hard to un-see. Do we just settle for someone out of loneliness, or do we wait and hope that a special someone magically appears out of nowhere? Of course, we don't. But these are some of the questions we ask ourselves because we are awakened to a much deeper side of life. We know life is full of mystery and wonder, and we seek someone with whom to share in the journey.

“Once the soul awakens, the search begins and you can never go back. From then on, you are inflamed with a special longing that will never again let you linger in the lowlands of complacency and partial fulfillment. The eternal makes you urgent. You are loath to let compromise or the threat of danger hold you back from striving toward the summit of fulfillment.”

Here is a good article I found on "Spiritual Awakenings" for some perspective that I think will help some.
